Keller ISD is closing all schools Feb. 24, and after-school activities Feb. 23 were canceled due to winter weather.

The district wrote in a Feb. 23 online announcement that the decision to close comes because of “below-freezing temperatures and continued precipitation in the forecast.”

A winter storm warning is in effect through Feb. 24 from the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex up to the Red River, according to the National Weather Service, with sleet and ice expected to “result in hazardous driving conditions.”

In addition to closing Feb. 24, all extracurricular activities are canceled the evening of Feb. 23, including all fine arts and athletic events, according to the announcement.

Classes are expected to resume on Feb. 25, the announcement states. The district also will not have to make up the bad weather day as its instructional calendar has additional daily minutes already added to account for the closures.
