Both districts in the Keller-Roanoke-Northeast Fort Worth area have been named to the 2020 Best Communities for Education list.

Sponsored by the National Association of Music Merchants, the designation represents Keller ISD and Northwest ISD’s commitment and access to music education.

The award program is designed to recognize “outstanding efforts" by students, teachers, parents and community leaders to provide a well-rounded music education, according to the NAMM Foundation.

The districts are two of just 87 school districts recognized in the state of Texas. This is the 12th consecutive year that Northwest ISD has received the honor.

“The district provides students with musical opportunities at every education level, from introductory courses at the elementary level to award-winning choirs, bands, ensembles and theatre groups at the high school level,” district officials said.

In order to be considered for the Best Communities for Music Education designation, school districts are required to provide information on music education funding, class participation, instructional time, facilities and other support provided to music programs.
