The city of Fort Worth is asking for resident feedback through an online survey to measure community support for a potential soccer stadium.

According to a Feb. 11 announcement, the city is considering partnering with Keller ISD to build a 10,000-seat stadium in north Fort Worth.

The facility would be home to a United Soccer League Championship men's team, a USL Super women’s team and a soccer development academy “managed by a prominent European soccer club,” the announcement states. According to the survey, USL is the second tier of professional soccer in the U.S. Keller ISD would also be able to use the stadium for high school sports and other events.

The proposed stadium could also “anchor a large-scale mixed-use development,” according to one of the survey questions, and include retail, restaurant, office and hotel space. A potential location for the stadium is in north Fort Worth on Basswood Boulevard just off I-35W and about 10 miles north of downtown Fort Worth.

Officials envision a public-private partnership like the one with Frisco, Frisco ISD and the Dallas Cowboys that resulted in the The Star in Frisco with an indoor stadium surrounded by retail, restaurants, a hotel and office space. Officials have said the project in Fort Worth has the potential to create a $900 million development at the proposed 300-acre site, which would be anchored by a $175 million stadium.

Discussions about the stadium began as early as November 2020. Fort Worth District 4 City Council Member Cary Moon, who has been helping bring the project to fruition, said he plans to get it done before he leaves office in May.

“I've got a few more months, and I still expect to bring a stadium—the 10,000-seat stadium for Keller ISD and the city of Fort Worth for high school football and soccer—still expect to get that done in the next two months,” Moon said. “And that will positively impact our area.”

CSL International is the city’s adviser on the potential stadium and created the survey, according to the announcement.

The survey asks for a variety of opinions on soccer, the potential stadium and USL teams, along with basic demographics such as gender, annual household income and age.

“As a way to measure community support, CSL has developed a short survey that is being distributed marketwide, and a meaningful part of the survey process includes assessing business community support for the proposed stadium and teams,” the announcement states.

The survey takes about 10 minutes to complete and will close Feb. 28, said Andra Bennett, Fort Worth marketing communications coordinator. To take the survey, click here.
