Timber Creek High School will be transitioning all classes to remote learning Nov. 11-18 due to “concern for the safety and health” of the community, according to Keller ISD officials.

In an announcement released the morning of Nov. 11, Principal Michelle Somerhalder said the decision was made after a high number of students and staff were forced to quarantine following an increase in COVID-19 cases.

“Every decision we are making is in the best interest of everyone’s safety and well-being,” she said in the statement.

Keller ISD’s COVID-19 dashboard showed as of Nov. 11 there were 10 active student cases at Timber Creek and 221 students in quarantine as a result of contact tracing. Across all of Keller ISD, there are currently 192 active COVID-19 cases.

Electronic devices for TImber Creek students will be distributed Nov. 11 from 7:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m. at the Keller ISD Annex, located at 10310 Old Denton Road. A student ID badge will be required.

Curbside meal pickup at Timber Creek will not take place during this time but will remain available at other campuses. Students who attend the Keller Center for Advanced Learning are allowed to attend in-person KCAL classes as long as they are not in quarantine or positive for COVID-19. Students will have to find their own transportation as shuttles will not be running between Timber Creek High School and the KCAL during this period. A remote learning opportunity at the KCAL will also be available.

This is the second school in Keller ISD to go remote after a surge in COVID-19 cases. In September, Fossil Ridge High School went remote for two weeks after too many staff members were forced to quarantine due to potential exposure to the virus.
