Members of Roanoke’s Parks and Recreation Department recently completed two projects that will help keep residents and visitors a little cooler this summer. One is located in front of City Hall at 500 S. Oak St., and the other is at Fairplay Park, located at 312 S. Walnut St.
According to the city’s Facebook page, the City Hall plaza fountain maintenance is complete, and the fountain is ready to be enjoyed by both onlookers and those wanting to play in the fountain itself. Communications and Public Engagement Officer Diane Rice said that there is a motion-activated sensor that allows people to simply wave their hand and turn on the water for five minutes.
The second project is the installation of a shade structure at Fairplay Park. The structure covers playground equipment.
