Thanks to significantly higher than budgeted revenues, the town of Westlake is projecting a $1.2 million contribution to their fund balance this fiscal year.

According to Director of Finance Cayce Lay Lamas during her quarterly financial report to council on June 12, council had adopted a general fund budget with a $5 million shortfall.

“So we’re going from $5 million to the bad, to $1.2 million to the good, which is great news for our current fiscal year,” Lamas said.

Lamas stated increases in sales tax, franchise fees and interest income were the reasons for the change in revenue.

She added the only adjustment made to expenditures after the second quarter was a $60,000 increase for a contract with the Keller Police Department to provide police services. The estimate was $60,000 less than the amount in the final contract that was signed.
