Trophy Club Town Council will allow a local brewery and a winery to sell alcohol at the town's new upcoming April event.

At the Feb. 22 meeting, the Town Council authorized Shannon Brewing Company and Two Brothers Winery to sell beer and wine during Trophy Club’s inaugural “Taste of Trophy Club” event set for April 30, according to the agenda item’s memo.

The event is the town’s first food festival to showcase Trophy Club’s dining scene and will feature cooking demonstrations, music, art and family activities, according to the town’s website.

“We have invited all of our local restaurants here in town, and [this event is a] great opportunity to showcase them and provide awareness to our community and neighboring cities,” Tony Jaramillo, Trophy Club director of Parks and Recreation said at the meeting.

Town Council’s approval means beer and wine sales can take place during the event on April 30 from 6-10 p.m., according to the memo. The event will be at Independence Park East—500 Parkview Drive in Trophy Club—and beer and wine sales will take place at the park’s concessions facility. Temporary fencing will be installed in various areas of the park, and the facility will be considered a controlled area.

“[Attendees] will not be able to leave the facility or the park with drink in hand,” Jaramillo said

Leticia Vacek, Trophy Club town governance officer and secretary, told Community Impact Newspaper that town policy does not allow beer and liquor sales at any park without approval from the council.

Town staff met with the Parks and Recreation Board on Nov. 8, 2021, to propose and implement the new event, and the board recommended allowing food, beer and wine sales at the event, the memo states.
