The backstory

According to the company’s website, the first store was opened in 1927 in Dallas. Today, it is a global brand with more than 84,000 stores—more than any other retailer in the world—in 19 countries.

The company celebrates its birthday, July 11, each year by giving away free small Slurpee drinks at participating stores, per 7-Eleven's website.
