Representatives of Dick's Sporting Goods announced plans to construct an 800,000-square-foot regional distribution center in Fort Worth on Aug. 13. The facility is expected to bring 300 new full-time jobs to the area over the next 10 years.

The details

According to a company news release, the distribution center will support the company’s business operations in Texas and provide distribution capabilities to more than 100 Dick's Sporting Goods stores across several states.

It will be located on an 89.5-acre site within the Risinger/35 Logistics Park, a development by Hillwood, the developer of AllianceTexas. Hillwood Construction Services will develop and construct the project.

According to the news release, the components that make it a next-generation facility include:
  • High-efficiency lighting and HVAC
  • Recycled and environmentally friendly construction materials
  • Energy management systems
  • Recycling programs for corrugate and plastics
The news release states the new Fort Worth facility joins the existing Dick's distribution network that includes distribution centers in five states including Georgia, New York and Arizona. The news release states construction, which is expected to create more than 800 temporary construction jobs, is scheduled to begin early this fall.
