Officials from Kroger and the city of Fort Worth were among those breaking ground on a new Kroger Marketplace grocery store at 113 E. Bonds Ranch Road in Fort Worth on Nov. 8.

In a nutshell

The Fort Worth location, which is the 10th store in the city of Fort Worth, is one of three new Kroger marketplace stores in North Texas. A company news release stated the other two stores—one in Melissa and one in Plano—are under construction.

While Kroger has been in the North Texas region for more than 65 years, these three stores are the first built since the location at 1801 North Lake Forest Drive in McKinney was constructed in 2019, according to the news release.

What they’re saying

John Votava, Kroger Dallas corporate affairs director, said the 123,000-square-foot store will be the anchor of a 17-acre development that will host other retail establishments as well.

He added the store will feature several unique services, including:
  • A Starbucks kiosk
  • Murray’s cheese counter
  • A fuel center with 18 pumps and a kiosk with grab-and-go drinks and snacks
  • A full-service pharmacy
Votava also mentioned the project will create between 250 and 300 jobs for the community.

“We’re all very eager to welcome this community to the marketplace here in the fourth quarter of 2024,” Votava said.

Alan Blaylock, who represents District 10 for the city of Fort Worth, talked about how the location is a game changer for residents in the area.

“This location is fantastic,” Blaylock said. “It will put groceries so much closer to residents in District 10 and District 7. It will help people all the way from Rhome and Justin to come shop closer to their home.”
