Southwire, one of the leading manufacturers of wire and cable used in the transmission and distribution of electricity, has expanded its operations and leased Alliance Westport 25.

The details

According to a company news release, the Alliance Westport 25 facility, located at 14800 Blue Mound Road, Fort Worth, is over 1.18 million square feet and is equipped with the latest in next-generation logistics facilities within the Alliance Westport sector of AllianceTexas. Southwire’s expansion to AllianceTexas will employ 250 team members. The facility is under construction and is expected to be complete by the second quarter of 2024.

The news release goes on to state that for more than 70 years, Southwire Company has been one of North America’s largest wire and cable producers. Southwire and its subsidiaries manufacture several types of wire and cable products including:
  • Building wire and cable
  • Utility products
  • Metal-clad cable
  • Portable and electronic cord products
  • Original equipment manufacturer wire products and engineered products
The news release also states that Southwire supplies assembled products, contractor equipment, electrical components, hand tools and job-site power and lighting solutions. In addition, the company provides a variety of field and support services to customers around the world.

The backstory

According to the news release, Alliance Westport 25 was originally launched as an about 1.08 million-square-foot speculative building in August 2022 and is now being expanded to 1.18 million square feet to meet Southwire’s larger size requirements.

The 1,200-acre Alliance Westport sector offers a location across from the entrance to the Burlington Northern Santa Fe intermodal facility with over 15 million square feet of developable next-generation distribution facility space designed and master planned to be fully integrated with a smart-infrastructure platform featuring electric and autonomous freight optimization capabilities.


Consisting of 27,000 acres, AllianceTexas—a Hillwood development—is anchored by the world’s first dedicated industrial airport, Perot Field Fort Worth Alliance Airport, and hosts one of the nation’s premier intermodal hubs, according to the news release. Today, AllianceTexas is home to 560 companies that have created more than 66,000 direct jobs and has approximately 55 million square feet of developed commercial real estate assets. The development’s cumulative impact since 1989 is an estimated $111 billion for the North Texas region.
