MP Materials Corp. is building a magnetics facility in AllianceTexas, according to a Dec. 9 press release from the company. MP Materials Corp. owns and operates Mountain Pass, which is the “only integrated” rare earth mining and processing site in North America, according to the company’s website.

The magnet manufacturing facility will span 200,000 square feet and serve as the business and engineering headquarters for its magnetics division, MP Magnetics, the release stated. The new facility will create over 100 jobs.

Matt Sloustcher, MP Materials’ senior vice president of communications, told Community Impact Newspaper that the company is preparing the site to begin construction early next year. The address for the new location has not been released yet, Sloustcher said.

“Site prep is well underway, as is engineering, equipment selection and floor plan design,” Sloustcher said.

MP Materials Corp. also announced that it is entering into an agreement with General Motors Co. to supply U.S.-sourced and -manufactured rare earth materials, alloy and finished magnets for electric motors in over a dozen models, according to the release. 702-844-6111. www.mpmaterials.com
