Amazon regional air hub making strides to launch regular flights at Fort Worth Alliance Airport

The city of Fort Worth extended a warm welcome to the first Amazon Prime air flight as regular flights ramp up at Amazon’s regional air hub at the Fort Worth Alliance Airport.

The regional air hub has been heralded as the “first build-to-suit airport project of its kind in the Amazon Air network,” according to an Oct. 9 news release from the city. It was designed to support larger-scale needs and includes the necessary sorting capability and infrastructure to handle multiple daily flights.

Amazon Air’s operation launched in 2016 to support package delivery to a rapidly growing number of customers, according to a news release from Amazon.

The online retail giant expects this regional air hub will eventually lead to the creation of 300 new full-time jobs.

“We are excited to start flying to and from our new facility at the Fort Worth Alliance Airport very soon,” Sarah Rhoads, vice president of Amazon Global Air, said in the news release. “This facility will allow us to offer even more selection and faster delivery to our customers. This is our latest investment in Texas and we look forward to hiring top talent from the local community.”
