Soul Bird Chkn Shack will open a new restaurant at 3240 Heritage Trace Pkwy. in Fort Worth, according to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. The 2,050 square-foot restaurant will finish construction in May 2023 and feature the same quality and fresh ingredients that founders and brothers Tim and Matt Nystrom use at their two other locations in Dallas’s The Hill Shopping Center and The Shops at Legacy in Plano.

According to its website, Soul Bird brings “life-changing food and gathering spots to their community.”

Diners start their orders by picking their protein from three choices: breaded chicken, grilled chicken or fried cauliflower. These proteins are the foundation for a variety of sandwiches including the Soul Bird with house-cut pickles; the Shack, which features a fried egg, applewood smoked bacon, crisp greens and tomato; and the G.O.A.T. that includes applewood smoked bacon, sun-dried tomato goat cheese, crisp greens, tomato and house pepper jelly. All sandwiches are served on toasted brioche buns.

Customers desiring lighter options can choose from a variety of salads and power bowls that can also be served as wraps. Rounding out the menu are wings and tenders that can be served with one of six sauces including garlic buffalo, gochujang, mango jerk and sweet BBQ.

Sides can be enjoyed as shared items or individually and range from Mixed Nuts and Bolts that feature fried pickles, mushrooms, and zucchini served with jalapeno buttermilk ranch and soul sauce, to Soul Slaw and Coop-cous, which is Mediterranean couscous salad.

Before opening Soul Bird Chkn Shack, Tim Nystrom worked in the hospitality industry during college, and he developed a passion for creating spaces that brought people together and served their needs well. Matt Nystrom worked in marketing for years before deciding to branch out on his own, using his skills to help small businesses thrive, according to their website.
