The city of Roanoke is celebrating National Blood Donor Month with a city blood drive Jan. 27.

In partnership with Carter BloodCare, the city is encouraging residents to give back from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., according to a city news release.

The blood drive will take place at Roanoke City Hall, 500 S. Oak St., and blood donor spots are available for sign up at ww3.greatpartners.org/donor/schedules/drive_schedule/109831.

The Jan. 27 blood drive coincides with the 2020 It’s Time Texas Community Challenge, which runs from Jan. 6-March 1.

Roanoke residents are encouraged to post a photo of themselves donating blood in order to earn 50 points toward the challenge, the release said.

The It’s Time Texas Community Challenge is designed to inspire healthy activities across Texas communities, and the city of Roanoke has committed to hosting a variety of activities through the March 1 end date, officials said.
