Baylor Scott & White Medical Center-McKinney will soon add an additional 35,000 square feet to its facility, making room for a heart hospital. The Heart Hospital Baylor McKinney will offer cardiovascular specialties, outpatient services and have 22 ambulatory surgery beds.
The addition is expected to cost $30 million to build and will be attached to the Baylor Scott & White Medical Center-McKinney campus on the northwest side of the current building.
A groundbreaking will take place sometime in January with construction expected to be complete by the end of March 2019, said Mark Valentine, president of the Heart Hospital in Plano and McKinney.
"As Collin County continues to grow immensely in the McKinney market, we felt that geographically McKinney would be a natural choice for us to put a new heart hospital because we feel that it will not only support the northern areas of Collin County but also into Grayson [County] and [the] Oklahoma border," he said.
Initially, the hospital will open with approximately 60 employees, Valentine said. This will be a mix of new hires and employees transferring from other locations.
Baylor has two heart hospitals in North Texas with locations in
Plano and
Denton.
