Dallas Fort Worth International Airport is expecting more than 3 million passengers to pass through the airport during the Thanksgiving holiday travel period.

What you need to know

In a news release, the airport stated the busiest day will be Nov. 30, with an estimated 269,000 travelers. Between Nov. 20 and Dec. 2, the airport will have heavy traffic throughout the travel period. Airport officials anticipate large crowds of departing and arriving customers on Nov. 26, Nov. 29 and Dec. 1, as well.

Airport officials are recommending that travelers arrive 60 to 90 minutes earlier than usual, with a minimum of two hours before a domestic flight and three hours before an international flight.

Extra time is urged for potential traffic delays, including construction at DFW Airport and parking availability. Parking can be booked in advance.

Airport road construction is an ongoing part of a $12 billion capital plan called DFW Forward.

According to previous reporting, construction is ongoing on roads near Terminal A. There is also construction going on at Terminal C as part of a pier expansion.

American Airlines customers can check in at any terminal and connect to the departing gate using the Skylink train, according to the news release.
