In addition, construction projects that are part of DFW Forward continue. DFW Forward is a $9 billion investment with more than 180 projects across the airport, according to a news release. One of the many projects is the construction of Terminal F, a $4 billion expansion.
Check out this list of four updates from the airport. This list is not comprehensive.
1. EVA Air holds a ceremony for inaugural flight
EVA Air held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Oct. 3 with dignitaries from the airline, the airport and the city of Fort Worth for a new flight between Dallas and Taiwan.
EVA Air has operated cargo flights between Taipei and DFW Airport since 1998 but has now added three weekly passenger flights that will become daily by the end of the year, according to a news release. The first flight to Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, near Taipei, happened following the ribbon-cutting.
EVA Air announced the new route in December 2024, according to previous reporting.
“EVA Air’s new route builds on nearly 30 years of partnership with Dallas–Fort Worth, which began with our cargo operations,” EVA Air President Clay Sun said in a news release. “Those years of experience and partnership have laid the foundation for what we now inaugurate—a direct, reliable and convenient service for our passengers.”
In attendance at the event were Ambassador Alexander Tah-Ray Yui of Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in the United States; Ken Buchanan, DFW Airport executive vice president/chief revenue officer; Milton Paz, DFW Airport vice president of airline relations and cargo business development; and Fort Worth Mayor Pro Tem Carlos Flores.
According to a news release, DFW Airport is the ninth destination in North America from Taiwan, joining Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, New York, Houston, Chicago, Vancouver and Toronto.
2. Roadwork continues at DFW Airport
Crews from Mario Sinacola & Sons Excavating Inc., have started to pave portions of the East West Connector project.
The 1.65-mile roadway will extend Rental Car Drive from International Parkway to SH 360, essentially adding a connection into DFW Airport to the Southgate Plaza entrance to the airport.
This particular project cost is $47 million, according to airport officials. The airport is funding 20%, and the remainder is by TxDOT and the Federal Highway Administration.
Construction is expected to be complete by the spring of 2026, according to the airport website.
3. Founders’ Plaza closed for 3 months
Construction activity at Founders’ Plaza started Oct. 15, and it will be closed for an estimated three months, according to a news release.
The area, which was open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, was a spot used by photographers and visitors to the airport to take photos of planes, according to the airport website. The area is now closed for soil remediation around the area.
4. Frontier flying to 3 new destinations
Frontier Airlines announced 15 new flights across the country in July, and three of them have now taken off from DFW Airport.
The Denver-based airline started flights to El Paso International Airport on Oct. 8. The next day, the airline started flights to two other destinations: Charleston International Airport in Charleston, South Carolina, and Tucson International Airport in Tucson, Arizona. Both of those routes will be twice weekly.
