Colleyville City Council approved an interlocal agreement with Tarrant County for the rehabilitation of Glade Road and gave an update on Tinker Road construction during the July 15 council meeting.

The overview

The Glade Road reconstruction will start from the roundabout at Jackson Road and Pool Road to Strathmore Terrace. Work will include base repair and 2-inch mill and overlay of new asphalt, Public Works Director Lisa Escobedo said.

The project is expected to cost $124,718, which will come from the city’s Capital Project Funds. The estimated cost to mill the road is $30,705, which will also be funded by Colleyville, according to city documents.

“The road has deteriorated a lot in those areas, so this will help with service conditions as well as the ride quality,” Escobedo said.

Tarrant County will provide the labor and equipment and the city will be responsible for costs associated with materials, traffic control, flaggers and disposal fees for waste materials generated during the project, city documents state.

The city will have a pre-construction meeting in the next few months to set a start date for the project, according to city officials. Once the project begins, it is estimated to take two weeks to complete, Escobedo said.

More details

Tinker Road is about halfway through construction with completion anticipated for the fall, council member Tim Raine said.

The road is closed to westbound traffic from Ponderosa Lane to Caldwell Hughes Road until the project is finished.

The improvements are from Emerald Drive to Ponderosa Street and include:
  • A new storm sewer system that ties into the Colleyville Boulevard storm sewer system
  • Replacement of water and waste water lines
  • Installation of a concrete sidewalk, curb ramps and a mill and overlay
The project is funded by the city for $2.09 million.
