The closure of the Jackson Road Bridge over Little Bear Creek in Colleyville has been extended.

According to an email from the city sent on Sept. 27, TxDOT is in the material testing phase and the quality has to be reviewed before moving to the next steps.

The new completion date is early 2025, according to the city. TxDOT originally had planned for construction to be completed by the end of 2024.

What’s happening

The project will widen the travel lanes to 12 feet, providing the addition of four-foot-wide shoulders and five-foot-wide sidewalks on both sides of the bridge, according to a news release. The construction has led to a full closure of the bridge, which is located between West Glade Road and Cheek-Sparger Road.

The details

TxDOT started the $1.75 million project in January but a utility conflict with a water line led to a delay that was resolved in May. Construction resumed in July, which then pushed the timetable for completion into early 2025.
