As Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport prepares for Labor Day weekend, one of its busiest weekends, the airport's staff is also on standby to host any medical evacuation flights that may be needed because of Hurricane Harvey, according to the airport's corporate communications manager Cynthia Vega. Vega said the airport had 18 flight diversions last weekend from flights that were supposed to fly into Houston's George Bush Intercontinental and Hobby airports. Vega said she is unsure if there will be more flight diversions this weekend, but the airport's emergency management team is prepared and ready to assist. According to FlightAware, more than 10,600 airline flights have been canceled, have been canceled since Hurricane Harvey arrived on Friday. Of those 10,600 flights, 9,000 came from the two Houston flights. Both Houston airports reopened Wednesday on a limited basis, with most major carriers resuming commercial service Saturday.
