There are several transportation projects expected to begin or continue construction in 2017. Here are six transportation projects to expect:

1. SH 26 Phase 2
In November preliminary construction work began. However, utility relocations have not been completed deferring the project from fully taking off. City staff expects utility work to be finished mid-February. The project includes widening SH 26 to six lanes between John McCain Road and Brown Trail. The Texas Department of Transportation project is expected to be complete in 2019.

2. Pleasant Run Road
Expected to begin this summer, the project includes the reconstruction of the existing asphalt roadway of Pleasant Run Road from John McCain Road to Shelton Drive. Crews will also replace some of the water and sewer lines in that area. Construction is expected to take 9 months to complete.

During the December 20 City Council meeting workshop, City Council requested the addition of sidewalks to the west side of the roadway. Staff is working with the consultant to include this request into the current scope of the project.

3. Glade Road Phase 1
The project is currently in the right-of-way acquisition process. After the right of way is acquired, the project will move into the utility relocation process. The project includes reconstructing Glade Road from Bransford Road to Manning Drive. It includes construction of a new westbound through lane at the Bransford intersection, a roundabout at Riverwalk Drive, realignment of Bedford Road, lowering of Glade at Bluebonnet Drive to remove the stop signs as well as a trail on the north side and sidewalk on the south side. Once construction begins it is expected to take 13 months to complete.

4. John McCain Road
This project includes the rehabilitation of the existing asphalt roadway of John McCain from Westcoat Drive to Maranatha Court and utility improvements. The start of work will be contingent on the availability of Tarrant County work crews, but it is expected to occur this summer.

5. L.D. Lockett Road
This project includes the rehabilitation of the existing asphalt roadway of L.D. Lockett Road from Precinct Line Road to Westcoat Drive. The work is expected to begin in the summer and will take several months to complete.

6. Westcoat Drive
The section between McDonwell School Road to John McCain will be rehabilitated. Work is being scheduled and is expected to be performed in the summer 2017.
