What’s happening?
Community Waste Disposal will handle all of Colleyville’s household hazardous waste disposal needs effective Oct. 1, according to a news release.
Disposal will transition to CWD’s household hazardous and electronic waste door-side collection program exclusively once the city’s contract with the FWECC expires.
The backstory
Colleyville has contracted with the FWECC for many years, but the partnership is ending because the city was notified the FWECC’s rates will nearly double Oct. 1, according to city officials.
Colleyville has an existing program with CWD for door-side recycling of hazardous household waste and electronics.
The specifics
All items accepted by the FWECC are also accepted by CWD. Acceptable items include poison, solvent, oil-based and latex paint, aerosols, used motor oil, auto batteries, fluorescent tubes, and televisions.
Residents may use the collection program once a month. Information about the program, including how to schedule door-side collection, is available on the city’s website.
