The details
Tarrant County will reimburse Colleyville for 50% for all costs related to the John McCain Road widening project up to $150,000, according to city documents.
The project includes widening the drainage tunnel on Big Bear Creek west of Monticello Parkway, making improvements to the roadway curve along John McCain and Stillwater Circle, and replacing the driveway, roadway, curbs, gutters and storm pipes on the bridge, according to a presentation from Public Works Director Lisa Escobedo.
This is a Texas Department of Transportation project and is anticipated to begin early 2026, Escobedo said.

Council approved an $88,000 agreement with Westwood Professional Services, Inc. for the design and bid process for the fiscal year 2025-26 green ribbon projects. The Green Ribbon Project is a TxDOT program dedicated to improving visual appearance of highway corridors.
The projects include adding landscaping along SH 26 from Tennison Parkway to south of John McCain Road, and along SH 121 from north of Gateway Drive to Connecting Road, according to city documents.
Council approved a $885,509 grant from Tarrant County to pay for a portion of the cost for these projects at the Oct. 21 meeting.
The projects are expected to cost over $1 million including construction work, with Colleyville paying $123,000 using Tax Increment Finance funds, according to city documents.
