The programs were unanimously approved by Colleyville City Council members at a Sept. 16 meeting.
What you need to know
Several programs will be rolled out this Christmas, including:
- $35 Colleyville gift cards, which residents can use to shop at participating Colleyville businesses
- $50 Colleyville Cares gift cards, which will be given to families in need to shop at Colleyville businesses
- Colleyville Gives program, which allows sales tax businesses to receive a $1,000 advertising grant or a $2,000 advertising grant if the business donates $500 to a local nonprofit
The city is also bringing back the Great Receipt Race, which was last implemented in 2020, Wood said. This program partners with the Grapevine-Colleyville ISD parent-teacher associations. The PTAs collect receipts from transactions at Colleyville businesses, and the top three with the most receipts receive a grant from the city.
“In the past, we’ve done $5,000, $3,000 and $2,000 for the top three winners and $500 for any school that participates,” Wood said.
By the numbers
Since 2018, the city has provided $5.38 million to local businesses through the gift card programs, Wood said.
With the Colleyville Gives program, the city has provided $529,100 in advertising grants to local businesses since 2018, he said. In return, businesses have given $133,404 in donations to local nonprofits.
