The relocation of the Emergency Operations Center within the Southlake Department of Public Safety headquarters at 600 State St. will start in January.

Southlake City Council approved five items for the move during the Dec. 5 meeting, totaling nearly $2.6 million. Funding for this project is part of the approved capital improvement program in the Southlake Crime Control and Prevention District's fiscal year 2023-24 fund, and will move the Emergency Operations Center from the second floor to the first.

Zooming in

The first of the five contracts approved was to Allen-based Gliden Industries LLC for $753,000 for the actual relocation. The project would include the finish-out of the first floor of the public safety headquarters and the move from the location in the community room on the second floor. Documents say the current location does not have controlled access or protection from windstorms and other hazards.

The renovation will feature:
  • The Emergency Operations Center
  • A breakout room
  • HAM radio room
  • Information technology/storage room
  • Executive conference room
Gliden's proposal was $654,000 with $99,000 for contingency construction expenses that may arise. The timetable would see substantial completion by May, according to documents.
