On Dec. 17, Grapevine City Council approved purchasing the machines to replace what meeting documents referred to as an “honor vault” pay system.
The current cash handling system does not meet current cash handling protocols, per meeting documents. The new pay stations will reduce human error and eliminate the need and risk associated with handling cash. In addition, the new systems are solar powered, so there will be no additional electric fees, according to meeting documents.
“It’s a great new technology,” said Kevin Mitchell, Grapevine Parks and Recreation Department director, to City Council.
Council agreed to pay for the system an amount not to exceed $53,160.
