The 38th Annual GrapeFest kicked off Sept. 12 and will run through Sept. 15 in downtown Grapevine.

The event features live music, wine experience, vendors and games.

What’s happening?

Former "American Idol" winner Taylor Hicks will perform Sept. 13. He provides a mix of soul, blues, country and rock and roll, according to the GrapeFest news release.

Las Vegas performer Frankie Moreno will headline the musical acts Sept. 14. Nine of his albums have hit Billboard’s No. 1 spot, according to his website.

A closer look

The event will feature the annual People’s Choice Wine Tasting Classic, which will crown the top Texas wine. There will also be an international wine experience with choices from Austria, Australia and Mexico, according to the news release. Both of those events, as well as Barossa Master Classes and wine pairing workshops, are additional ticketed experiences beyond the entrance to the event.

A GrapeStomp and Champagne Cork Shoot-Off will be free experiences to compete in, per the news release.




What else?

There will be new festival foods this year, such as Smackin Mac and Cheese, Del Campo Empanadas and Granny Dee’s Pierogis, while the Texas Rangers World Series trophy will be available for a photo opportunity from 4-8 p.m. Thursday and Friday.
