Kevin Burge and TJ Ware advanced to the May primary after none of the three candidates in the March primary received more than 50% of votes. Burge received 18,130 votes, 46.39%, and Ware received 11,370 votes, 29.09%. The pair advanced to the May runoff over Jon Buchwald, who received 9,582 votes, 24.52%
The winner of the May primary will face U.S. Rep. Beth Van Duyne on the November ballot for a two-year term that begins in January 2027.
U.S. House District 24 includes Colleyville, Grapevine, Southlake, Keller, Richardson, Hurst, Bedford, Euless, North Richland Hills, Watauga, Westlake, Coppell, parts of Carrollton, Farmers Branch and Dallas.
Preparing for the polls
Early voting in Texas' runoff elections runs May 18-22. Runoff elections, like primaries, are separated by political party, meaning Texans who voted in one party's primary this March may only vote in the same party's runoff. Individuals who did not participate in the March primaries or a third-party nominating convention can vote in either party’s runoff this May.
