Two candidates have filed for the Place 6 Grapevine-Colleyville ISD board of trustees position, which will appear on the May ballot.

Place 6 is held by current trustee Dianna Sager, who will face Lindsey Sheguit.

Why are you running for office?
Two decades in GCISD as a teacher, parent and taxpayer serve as the foundation for my commitment to continued educational excellence for GCISD. My love of this community and this school district compel me to stay the course for critically needed continuity and accountability during this transitional time in GCISD.
What are the biggest challenges facing the district?
While there are always the primary issues of student achievement, teacher appreciation and retention, and communication, the current big issues relate to lack of state funding (Robin Hood), declining enrollment and administrative transitions (new hires: Superintendent, Athletic Director, CFO).
How do you plan to address these issues?
I plan to maintain financial responsibility while retaining teachers and still delivering high-quality programs for students. Additionally, I plan to use my experience to ensure we hire strong district leaders to advance student growth. I will provide fact-based communication and strengthen programs that attract new students to increase enrollment.
What would your top priorities be if you are elected?
I will maintain focus on student growth and teacher satisfaction by supporting strong programs that promote excellence across the district. I will prioritize a balanced budget for long-term stability while listening to parents and stakeholders, building trust and encouraging shared ownership through transparent, fact-based decisions and consistent, responsive actions.

Why are you running for office?
Our children, families and educators deserve an advocate who is trustworthy, tireless and transparent. As a proud GCISD graduate and parent I am invested in rebuilding a culture in which every voice is heard and none are dismissed.
What are the biggest challenges facing the district?
GCISD is currently operating without a vision and strategic plan for our future while struggling with financial stewardship. Our community distrusts the board’s decision making processes resulting in divisiveness. These prominent issues make it difficult to attract new families to the district.
How do you plan to address these issues?
We signal our priorities through our rhetoric and budget. I will be transparent and candid about my decisions. I will listen to the community, rather than dismiss their concerns. I will look for creative ways to restore programs our students have lost and increase revenue ensuring fiscal stability.
What would your top priorities be if you are elected?
Restoring our community's trust in the board is paramount. Our community deserves proactive leadership rather than reactive. Partnering with stakeholders, educators and students to develop a vision for the district’s future is essential. I pledge to commit to what matters most: the success, well-being and safety of every GCISD student.
