Multiple local government races will be decided on the May 2 ballot in Grapevine, Colleyville, Southlake and Trophy Club.

The filing period started Jan. 14 and will end at 5 p.m. Feb. 13, according to the respective city websites.

The last day to register to vote must be postmarked by April 2, while the last day to apply for a ballot in the mail must be received by April 20, according to the Tarrant County Election Administration. Early voting runs from April 20 to April 28.

Election day will run from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. May 2.

The overview


Grapevine will have two long-standing council members up for re-election.

Duff O’Dell has been the Place 6 council member since 2014, while Chris Coy has been the Place 5 representative since 2008.

Both filed to run for re-election Jan. 14, according to the city website.

Additionally, there are three trustee positions up for election in Grapevine-Colleyville ISD: Place 5, Place 6 and Place 7. Place 5 is currently held by A.J. Pontillo, who was initially elected in May 2023.


Dianna Sager currently holds Place 6, and was elected in May 2023. Place 7 is held by Mary Humphrey, who was also elected in May 2023.

Southlake will have two new council members as Kathy Talley and Randy Williamson have reached their term limit.

Williamson, the mayor pro tem, has been on council for most of the past 13 years. He served two terms in Place 4 from 2013-19 and has been in Place 6 since 2020. He ran unopposed in the 2023 election cycle, according to previous reporting.


Talley is wrapping up her second term in Place 1 and has spent six years on council. A former school teacher, she’s currently the deputy mayor pro tem.

As of Jan. 20, two candidates have filed. Eric Wang has signed up to run in Place 6, while Gary Fawks filed in Place 1.

Southlake called off the 2023 election as Talley and Williamson ran unopposed.

Places 3 and 4 will be on the ballot in Colleyville.


Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Scotty Richardson and Ben Graves are up for election. Richardson, Place 3, and Graves, Place 4, both ran unopposed in 2023, according to previous reporting.

Diving deeper

Trophy Club will have council races, as well as a ballot proposition.

Council places 1 and 2, as well as the mayor, will be up for election. Those spots are currently held by Stacey Bauer, Jeff Beach and Jeannette Tiffany, respectively.


Tiffany has been the only one of the three who has filed for re-election, as of Jan. 20. She won the spot in 2023 as a write-in candidate, securing 63.19% of the vote, according to previous reporting.

Beach won re-election in 2023, while Bauer won her spot that year.

Also on the ballot for Trophy Club, residents will be to reauthorize the street maintenance sales and use tax rate of one-fourth of one percent. Council approved the addition at the Jan. 12 meeting.

According to previous reporting, the tax was last renewed in 2022.
