Rick Barnes defeated incumbent Wendy Burgess during the March primary for the Republican nod by 705 votes. Burgess had been the tax assessor-collector since 2018.
Democratic nominee KC Chowdhury ran unopposed in the primary.

Why are you running for office?
I am committed to serving county taxpayers and ensuring they are the priority in every decision made by the office. My goals include limiting appraisal increases, advocating for taxpayers' interests, ensuring fair treatment from all staff and leading an efficient management team.
What are the biggest challenges facing this office?
Taxation has long been a prominent concern for property owners statewide. As a voting member of the TAD Board, I am committed to actively addressing taxpayer needs and delivering the services that taxing entities anticipate.
How do you plan to address these issues?
I will stay accessible to taxpayers and work closely with taxing entities to ensure a mutual understanding of needs. My leadership at TAD will be informed by these needs and a readiness to tackle concerns as they emerge.
What would your top priorities be if you are elected?
The primary objective is to work in tandem with the county leadership team to maintain Tarrant County's reputation as a leading county in the state. Operational efficiencies will be evaluated promptly and addressed on an ongoing basis.
