Why are you running for office?

I am running for re-election. I was elected three years ago. We were able to eliminate politics from the classroom and refocus on student achievement. We were able to lower property taxes saving taxpayers over $90 million. We secured police officers for every school—we have work left!

What are the biggest challenges facing the school district?

The biggest challenge facing GCISD is underfunding. We must work smarter and more efficiently. We must be excellent and what we do, raise standards and demand more for students educationally. Focusing on increasing academic rigor at every level! Make teaching fun again; give teachers the resources they need to be successful.

How do you plan to address these issues?

We began addressing many issues three years ago. We need to look at spending costs, get creative in how we approach revenue, utilizing the strength of our community. Focus on student achievement; results will follow.

What would your top priorities be if you are elected?

The next year will be vision casting for GCISD; this will be an important piece for our community. We need to focus on a balanced budget while maintaining quality and excellence. Student achievement is the primary focus.

Why are you running for office?

I support GCISD. With 22 years of experience in education and 10 in business, I have witnessed firsthand the challenges facing our school district, from the needs of students and teachers to the overall culture of our schools. I'll prioritize retaining educators, making informed financial decisions and fostering collaboration.

What are the biggest challenges facing the school district?

In recent years, I have been disheartened to see the erosion of GCISD’s special programs, and the departure of talented educators and families to neighboring districts. Despite claims of fiscal responsibility, our current board majority has failed to address a growing deficit, leaving our schools and educators at risk.

How do you plan to address these issues?

My dual background in both business and education brings a fresh perspective to decision-making. I am committed to collaboration and ensuring all voices are heard. By asking the right questions and implementing strategic planning, I will work to make smarter financial decisions that prioritize the long-term success of our schools.

What would your top priorities be if you are elected?

I'm dedicated to revitalizing GCISD's legacy of excellence through prioritizing enrollment growth, training, mentoring and retaining teacher talent, and enhancing our academic programs. While ensuring respectful and civil dialogue with other trustees, I will make prudent financial decisions that support continued property value growth.
