Updated at 9:30 a.m. Feb. 23: This story has been updated to reflect that Grapevine-Colleyville ISD board trustee Lisa Pardo has withdrawn from the race for her Place 4 seat.

The deadline to file for candidacy in the May 2022 local elections was Feb. 18 at 5 p.m.

There are several positions open on the Grapevine, Colleyville and Southlake city councils as well as on the board of trustees for both Carroll ISD and Grapevine-Colleyville ISD.

On Grapevine City Council, incumbents Leon Leal in Place 3 and Mayor Pro Tem Darlene Freed in Place 4 are running uncontested for re-election.

On the Southlake City Council, Places 3, 4 and 5 are up for election. Mayor Pro Tem Chad Patton holds Place 3. Ronell Smith holds Place 4, and Amy Torres-Lepp holds Place 5. Smith and Torres-Lepp have filed for re-election to their respective seats, and Shawn McCaskill has filed for Place 3, according to the city’s website. All three candidates are running uncontested.


Colleyville City Council places 1 and 2 are up for election, as is the role of mayor. Incumbent Mayor Richard Newton has reached his term limit and is not eligible to run again. Tammy Nakamura holds Place 1, and Mayor Pro Tem Bobby Lindamood holds Place 2.

Lindamood is running for mayor and will face David Kelly for the city's top post.

Amyn Gilani and Brandi Elder are running for Place 1. George Bond and Zac Bunn are running for Place 2, according to Colleyville’s website.

On the Carroll ISD board of trustees, Places 6 and 7 are up for election. Todd Carlton holds Place 6, and Andrew Yeager holds Place 7. Alex Sexton and Laura Durant have filed for Place 6. Yeager has filed for re-election for Place 7 and will run against Stephanie Williams, according to CISD’s website.


Places 3 and 4 on the Grapevine-Colleyville ISD board of trustees are up for election. Louie Sullins currently holds Place 3 and has filed for re-election. Alex Howard and Tammy Nakamura will also run for Place 3. Lisa Pardo currently holds Place 4. She had initially filed to run for re-election but signed paperwork on Feb. 21 withdrawing from the race. Kathy Florence-Spradley and David Stine will be running for the Place 4 seat, according to the district’s website.

The last day to register to vote for the May 7 election is April 7. Early voting in person starts April 25 and ends May 3. The last day to apply for a ballot by mail is April 26.
