CISD trustees unanimously approved the partnership at a Sep. 22 board meeting.
What you need to know
TWU will offer automatic admission to the top 30% of high school graduates and cover all admissions costs, per district documents. TWU will also offer merit scholarships to students in the top 30% with an unweighted GPA of 3.5.
“They don’t need to take the ACT, they don’t need to take the SAT,” CISD Superintendent Jeremy Glenn said at the meeting.
Additionally, trustees voted to allow TWU to teach dual-credit classes at Carroll ISD schools, which students will need to take to be offered admission to TWU, Executive Director for Curriculum Gina Peddy said.
“TWU, if our students go through their dual credit while they're here, then they are given automatic admission.” Peddy said at the meeting.
CISD students will be able to enroll in TWU college courses and earn credit toward a TWU degree while attending a Carroll ISD high school, district documents state.
CISD initially launched the partnership program in August with Texas Tech University, Tarleton State University, Howard Payne University and McMurry University, according to previous Community Impact reporting.
Looking ahead
TWU’s first scholarship awards will be available fall 2025, and the automatic admission partnership will be in effect until 2035, per district documents.
