With the DFW area in the grip of the first significant winter weather event of 2025, Carroll ISD families should prepare for potential school closings over the next week as students head back to school Jan. 8.

What you need to know

CISD officials maintain an inclement weather webpage. It states the district closely monitors the National Weather Service and local television and radio stations for any potential storm alerts or risks.

School officials also maintain open lines of communication with Southlake Department of Public Safety and follow its recommendations for storm procedures.

The webpage states that the district uses other platforms to get weather-related information for the district, including:
  • An emergency notification system: If school is delayed or canceled due to a weather-related event, notices are sent directly to parents and employees by phone, email and text via the district's Blackboard automated notification system
  • District website and social media: Inclement weather updates are sent out through the district’s Facebook and X/Twitter accounts. Information is also available on the district’s inclement weather website
  • Local television and radio stations: Weather-related coverage can be found on local television stations, including Fox 4, NBC 5, WFAA Channel 8 or CBS News Texas 11 for up-to-date information on school closings. Information will also be available on WBAP News Talk 820 AM and KRLD 1080-AM
Before you go

The webpage states should there be inclement weather, parents or guardians are asked not to come to school buildings to pick up their children. Instead, they are encouraged to use one of the platforms above for weather-related updates and announcements.

The webpage also states if parents or guardians need to update their emergency contact information in the district’s Skyward database, they should contact their child's school.
