Grapevine-Colleyville ISD board members approved the recommendation of hiring Kelly Mires as the new chief human resources officer for the district on Dec. 11.

Before being hired on at GCISD, Mires served Coppell ISD as the executive director of human resources since 2017, a district news release stated.

Prior to leading Coppell ISD’s HR department, Mires held the following positions in education:
  • Director of human resources and staffing coordinator at Allen ISD
  • An HR position with Canyon ISD
  • Five years as an elementary school teacher in Dallas and Garland ISDs.

“Kelly has a great deal of experience in human resources leadership and will be a tremendous asset to GCISD,” Superintendent Brad Schnautz said. “I’m confident that through her collaboration with the human resources team, we will continue to remain a destination district that excels in the recruitment and retention of exceptional staff.”

A closer look


According to the news release, Mires earned a Bachelor of Science in multidisciplinary studies from Texas Tech University, and a Master of Education in education administration. She also received her Texas Superintendent’s Certification from the University of Texas at Arlington.

“I am eager to begin my role with the Human Resources Department in GCISD, where the focus lies on cultivating meaningful relationships and the strategic recruitment and retention of high quality employees,” Mires said. “I’m excited to contribute to the development of a workplace where the pursuit of excellence is underlined by a commitment to our students and employees.”

The news release states that Mires is slated to begin her new role on Jan. 2, 2024.
