Grapevine-Colleyville ISD named Derick Sibley as the new chief financial officer of the district.

GCISD board of trustees approved Sibley’s appointment April 14. The district’s previous CFO was DaiAnn Mooney who joined the district in August 2012 and left in December 2022.

Sibley has formerly served as CFO of Pleasant Grove ISD in Texarkana since 2017, according to a news release from the district. Previously, he was business manager of Hughes Springs ISD. He also has experience as a teacher in Carlisle ISD, Rice Consolidated ISD and Boling ISD.

“I am excited to join Grapevine-Colleyville ISD,” Sibley said. “The district has a history of success, and my family and I are thrilled to be a part of continuing to build on that solid foundation. I have a true passion for school finance and leadership, and am honored to be selected to serve in this role. Dr. Schnautz and the leadership team have been wonderful. I can’t wait to join the team and get to know the wonderful people of GCISD.”

Sibley earned his Bachelor of Science from Stephen F. Austin University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. He is a certified administrator of school finance and operations and he holds superintendent, principal and teacher certifications in the state of Texas.

“Derick is a hands-on leader with extensive knowledge and experience in school finance who comes highly recommended by all who have worked alongside him,” Superintendent Dr. Brad Schnautz said. “He has what it takes to serve our district well in this capacity, and I am confident that he will make a positive difference in the GCISD community.”

Sibley will begin his position April 24.
