What's happening?
The church held a groundbreaking in February and concrete work started for a new parking lot in July. By the end of the year, the building should be complete, according to executive pastor Bryan Smith.
According to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, the $4.5 million project will include additions of a lobby, classrooms and restrooms on what was formerly Carroll Baptist Church.
The background
The addition will address key issues the church faced with growth: parking and space for children. The church sanctuary holds about 400, but there are about 70 parking spots, which leads to parishioners parking in four different areas near the church, Smith said. The additions will be 13,000 square feet and the construction of 90 more parking spots. Larger rooms for children classroom and a larger lobby is part of the work, as well.
“Really, our expansion is about right-sizing our facility; our congregation loves to mingle, so the expansion itself is addressing our current challenges,” Smith said.
Smith said the location of Carroll Baptist Church dated to the 1970s and was rebuilt in 1992 after a fire. In 2016, Village Church of Flower Mound took over the location and renamed it Village Church Southlake.
Since 2021, the church has gone by its current name.
