A zoning request change was requested and approved for a new day care center in Southlake during the Feb. 20 City Council meeting.

Darden Properties is developing property at 360 S. Nolen Drive and requested the city to allow include "day nurseries" as an additional use permit for the site plan.

The details

The request was to remove 10 parking spaces and add a 3,000-square-foot playground area with a retaining wall and fence. According to documents, the proposed day care center will be an 8,000-square-foot building with a playground attached.

The day care would be the second phase in a mixed-used development along Nolen Drive, one of four lots that will feature office buildings.

Phase 1 is an 80,000-square-foot corporate headquarters for GMI General Contractors, part of a 13.16-acre development, according to city documents.
