Both Grapevine and Southlake saw continued declines in year-over-year sales tax collections, but Colleyville is on an uptick.

The office of Texas Comptroller Glen Hegar released June reports for city sales tax collections June 10. Statewide year-over-year sales tax collections were down 11.7%, according to the comptroller’s office.

The June reports, which generally reflect sales during the month of April, show Grapevine saw a 45.29% decline in year-over-year sales tax collections. Grapevine Chief Financial Officer Greg Jordan said when calculating for adjustments made by the comptroller's office, that number is closer to a 39% decline.

Colleyville saw an increase in year-over-year collections of 6.82%. Southlake’s sales tax collections decreased by 19.76%

A comptroller news release pointed to widespread social distancing requirements as the reason for the declines in collections, adding April saw the steepest year-over-year collection declines since September 2009.

All three cities posted declines in sales tax revenue collections for May reports, which generally reflect numbers from March sales.
