When concerns about the COVID-19 outbreak started to increase in March, Carter BloodCare in Bedford forecast a loss of more than 10,000 donors in the coming months.

The organization is continuing to ask businesses and individuals to consider hosting a blood drive and donating blood. Several groups in Grapevine, Colleyville and Southlake are stepping up to answer that call.

Kirkman Engineering is hosting a blood drive with Carter BloodCare from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 7 and is hoping to remind people that blood donations are still needed, owner Shea Kirkman said.

"We just wanted to do something to help the community and give our staff another option to serve," he said in an email. "Kirkman Engineering is blessed to have a team that cares and is looking for ways to help."

He encouraged the public to stop by his office at 5200 SH 121, Colleyville, during that time to donate blood.

Several blood drives are scheduled the following week as well.

The Grapevine Rotary Club and the city of Grapevine will host a blood drive with Carter BloodCare from noon to 4 p.m. April 13 at Wise Guys Pizzeria, 322 S. Park Blvd., Grapevine.
