Colleyville’s Central Fire Station will be renamed to honor former Mayor Richard Newton.

City Council approved changing the station’s name to the Richard Newton Fire Station during its June 21 meeting. The council also approved changing the station’s signage to reflect the new name. The station is located at 5209 Colleyville Blvd.

Mayor Bobby Lindamood said changing the name is a “big deal” for the council and the city as a whole, and it is "well-deserved."

Newton was first elected as mayor in 1992. He was elected again in 2016 and served as Colleyville mayor for two terms from May 2016-May 2022.

“We wanted to rename something significant for his tireless dedication [during] all these years,” Lindamood said. “We are proud to do this for you, Mayor Newton.”
