Southlake City Council awarded a contract to Joe Funk Construction for the extension Zena Rucker Road and construction for an accompanying roundabout at its Aug. 20 meeting.

The roundabout will be installed at Zena Rucker where it intersects with Tower Boulevard. Work crews will extend Zena Rucker so that it connects Byron Nelson Parkway to Carroll Avenue, according to meeting documents.

The contract will not exceed $2.1 million, and Joe Funk Construction will also be doing work for sanitary sewer improvements on the north side of the city, according to meeting documents. Money for the project will come from multiple funds, including the city’s general and utility funds.

In another effort to improve mobility and infrastructure in Southlake, City Council also approved a contract of up to $348,740 to C. Green Scaping construction company to install a sidewalk on the north side of East Continental Boulevard from South Hollow Drive to Crooked Lane.

Funding for both projects have been allocated as part of the city’s previous and current capital improvement program budgets.
