A new residential development called Legacy North has received the green light from the Colleyville City Council to begin construction.

At the July 2 City Council meeting, council unanimously approved the final plat, or the layout for the development, which would be located at 712-810 Lavaca Trail, Colleyville.

Legacy North complements the Legacy neighborhood directly south of its location. Maykus Homes and Hat Creek Development were the developers of the Legacy neighborhood and will take charge of the Legacy North neighborhood, as well.

Legacy North will be on about 17 acres and subdivided into 25 single-family residential lots and five open-space lots, according to meeting documents. The neighborhood will be constructed with gated, private streets.

With council's approval, Maykus Homes can begin construction on the subdivision once the construction documents are finalized and approved.

Council Member Bobby Lindamood said he thinks the new neighborhood will assist with some drainage problems in the area, based on the improvements proposed in the plan. He also said he was pleased with the way Maykus has been proactive in marking the trees that will be preserved for the development.

"[The neighbors] are thankful for what trees you are trying to preserve," Lindamood said.

Homes at Legacy North will be available starting in early 2020, according to the Maykus Homes website.
