The city of Colleyville will enhance and update City Park, the city announced in mid-May. The park, located at 5205 Bransford Road, comprises several baseball and softball fields as well as tennis and basketball courts.
Improvements include replacing baseball field shade tarps, extending the foul ball fence protection, installing new scoreboards and providing equipment boxes to store field maintenance equipment, according to a May 20 news report from the city.
Efforts are already underway to replace storm-damaged shade tarps, Assistant City Manager Adrienne Lothery said, with plans to add shading in the quad area.
The Colleyville Baseball Association is helping to fund the replacement scoreboards, Lothery said. The baseball association also suggested that equipment boxes be installed.
Staff is also looking to update the park’s restrooms, but that is a longer-term project, which may not take place until next year.
More of the project will be completed throughout the summer as the city receives quotes and lines up contracts. The total cost of the project is not known at this time as the city is still receiving quotes for various work.
