Grapevine Fire Station 1 at 601 Boyd Drive, Grapevine, has closed for remodeling, relocating equipment and firefighters to other stations, according to a Friday announcement from the city.

“The remodel will add more living space for our firefighters along with an adequate number of restroom facilities so we can accommodate both our men and women fire personnel,” Fire Chief Darrell Brown said in a statement. “Additionally, the remodel will allow us better protect our firefighters from carcinogens as cancer is quickly becoming the silent killer of firefighters throughout North America and beyond.”

Officials have established a temporary firehouse in the former Grapevine Police building at 307 W. Dallas Road, Grapevine.
