The setup
The group of Paul Finley, Elizabeth Holden, Monica Martinez and Sarina Fuhrmann worked together in a framing shop in Dallas but started looking to branch out. They found a spot on Northwest Highway and are the first tenants to open in the shopping center owned by Vision Commercial Real Estate.
Finley said they liked Main Street and this new location is within walking distance. Holden said the location was also good because there is no other frame shop in the nearby area.
The plans to start their own company started more than two years ago and the dream has now become a reality, Martinez said.
The details
The 2,600-square-foot space includes a showroom, a workroom and space for an industrial saw for cutting wood.
The work includes conservation of artwork and frames, and each person has their own speciality, Holden said. The group can restore or repair frames, work on antique pieces that some shops avoid and clean old newspapers framed using a treatment called foxing.
According to the website, the business works with anyone from individuals to art collectors and designers, galleries and museums, hotels, and corporations looking for both traditional and modern custom framing.
