All American MMA owner Rocky Budri worked with Lonestar Mat Club owners Dr. Glenn Vo and Dr. Susan Tran in Southlake and merged the two wrestling clubs.
The focus is to build state- and national-level competition teams in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and wrestling in Southlake, according to coach Travis Clark.
“We're basically trying to not only build a powerhouse in Texas, but we want to build a powerhouse in the entire country as far as jiu-jitsu and wrestling goes,” said Clark, who is the head wrestling coach at Euless Trinity High School.
Budri has operated All American in Keller since 2014. With the merger, All American will operate the wrestling portion in Southlake, while bringing jiu-jitsu, Clark said. He said the plan is to get the jiu-jitsu program up by Nov. 1, while boxing and Muay Thai could come in 2026.
Donnie Whitted will be the wrestling coach at the Southlake location, while Clark will oversee the jiu-jitsu program in Southlake. The two will work together for freestyle and Greco wrestling in the spring and summer.
Clark said you could have a membership at the Southlake location and pay $50 extra per month and also use the Keller facility. Wrestling will be held three days a week and jiu-jitsu will be four days a week in Southlake—the same schedule in Keller.
Clark mentioned that if a wrestler wants to get five or six days of work in, the dual membership would allow it.
“We have kids that travel more than an hour just to train with us in Keller, so having a more centrally located facility will make it a little bit easier on the parents,” Clark said. “It also brings more quality coaches to help these kids reach their goals.”
Initial changes include changing the interior of the Southlake facility, but Clark said the facility could grow quickly in the next six months to a year, which would necessitate the need for a bigger space.
