Texas General Store, located along Main Street in downtown Grapevine, will be closing in 2025.

The gist

Owner Jessica Cruz said in an email the lease for the business expires Jan. 31. The store celebrated its 10th anniversary Aug. 22, she said.

The Texas-themed store sells unique gifts, apparel, decor and food items that are made in Texas or have a Texas flair, according to the website.

The store sells Post Malone t-shirts to honor the music artist who is from Grapevine. Earlier this year, "Home of Malone" shirts benefited Grapevine-Colleyville ISD Special Olympics. The newly released shirts plays off the movie series Home Alone, and proceeds from the sales went to The Gatehouse, a nonprofit that supports single women and children in Grapevine, according to social media posts from the store.


The background

The building that Texas General Store is located is listed on the National Register of Historic Places by the United States Department of the Interior.

According to the website, the building dates back to at 1914 when C.E. Stewart bought The Confectionery and it became City Drug Store in the 1940s. The building was restored in 1980 by Horace Gilliam, according to a historical marker, and the name Gilliam’s is above the entry door.
